Fall plans

We finally have solid plans for the fall, especially in regards to where Maya will be going to school.  You see, since I'm a teacher and I know there are vast differences in "public education" even within the same school district I want the best for my kids, as any parent does.  And I know you don't have to be a teacher to know that, but having been on the inside-the difference cannot be as easily disguised from me.  Many schools try really hard to "look" like they are doing everything the way they should, but in reality they are not.  Anyway, our local elementary school was not my choice for Maya, for more than one reason.  But after trying to get her into a Spanish Immersion program at a different school didn't happen I just decided that she would go there and I would volunteer to make sure she was being challenged and that she was safe.  And I was really OK with that scenario.  We applied for a transfer in hopes that it would be approved, but didn't count on it.  But, I am SO happy that our transfer request was approved for another school I feel is a better match for Maya.  Which allows me to work 5 days instead of 2 at the preschool (the best place to work, ever) with Logan.  I will be teaching in a 4 year old class (my favorite) and Logan will be in a different class, but we will have field trips together so I think it will be great!
